A year and a half, with this level of quality shouldn't be considered beginner level dude xD But that's not up to me to determine, so best of luck on the CotM! The contrast is actually very prominent and your title alone gives the piece an excellent mystical feel. There are mistakes that made the piece less believable like those lighting on the roots and the awkward angle of the swing, but concept-wise this one's a winner!

CloudyPages responds:

Thanks, I really appreciate constructive criticism and truthfulness. The swing is supposed to be swinging and I did notice the problem with the roots after I had downloaded my Project and WIP piece. I would consider myself a beginner though, Ive never taken any classes or lessons, I use super cheap software, and I started drawing in the middle of junior high, and now im in my last year of junior high which isnt very long, I just really love art and have been pushing myself to improve, I appreciate that you thinking that way though.

Hey! Great character design you definitely pulled that off well. Something you should consider though is the background for this piece. Yes it's pretty with clever use of symmetry, shape language and depth, but it doesn't emphasize the character itself and only seems to be there to fill up empty space. You could flatten the background, I feel that might make a good border for presenting your character, which should be the main focus here.

TakaEdakumi responds:

Thank you very much! I'm grateful for the critique!

I tried adjusting the opacity on the shapes in the background so it would seem a bit less busy--what do you think?

Excellent inking and interesting point of view! For an ambitious piece, the dramatization of foreground objects like the dead robot and foreshortening could have been better made use of. Some lines are also wonky while that pose you gave 2B is definitely unbalanced and not a natural standing position.

Really good stylization in my opinion! Good stuff for Halloween. However, the blood effects seem to not match the overall style and adding some extra detail in certain parts of the costume would very much enhance the picture.

Fantastic! What I love most about the piece is the uniqueness of the dragon's design. It feels mysterious, mystical and simply eye-catching! excellent work!

Interesting and ambitious piece! I can see the layers of ideas integrated into this painting. However, I would personally advise you to make better use of composition. Your focal point seems to be directed to the center but there is too much detail and contrasting colors in the left of the image, making the entire piece slightly confusing to look at. If you want emphasis on the left side, you could make it even bigger than the two characters in the middle and add shading for more appealing contrast!

Interesting piece! I can feel the original Doom art in this piece. The focal point in the center is a bit confusing to look at though.

Also side note: Have you been posting stuff as sketches? Careful, you can't be scouted unless you have at least four non-sketches!

StingerWanjiro responds:

Thank you for your review
Im sure most of the things ive made are non sketches
or atleast are marked as so

I can feel the flow in this piece, but the line-art is a bit messy - like mine xD

Fascinating and expressive piece! An interesting preview into Indian mythology. However, I feel that the strong expression and dramatic pose is too much of a huge contrast to the rather bland background. It feels unbalanced.

ArnabD responds:

Thank you so much for your feedback. I understand how bland the bg looks compared to the subject. I have always had issues with making good bgs and its something I'm working on to hopefully improve in the future. Thank you for taking your time to look through this piece.

Why do these good ones get stuck among the unscouted? I've seen some with worse quality up in the art portal, ones that clearly took much less effort than this.

Manx1 responds:

I'm a scouted musician, and kinda have my visual art on the back burner for music, so I haven't really pursued a scouting for art until I feel I'm ready for that. Thanks for your words.
